Marlick spotted movement and frowned when he saw that it seemed to be a human. He waited to see if it was moving before going down the fire escape.

Lou was running from something in his dream, he could hear the creatures raspy breath and feel its thick fur brush against his ankles, the teeth sinking into his leg and pulling him into a cave.

Marlick reached the human and his brow furrowed- he was immediately wary of the male.

Lou cried out in his feverish state, still dreaming. "No! Don't!" He whimpered twitching and shaking.

Marlick clicked his tongue and shook his head sadly, knowing he couldn't afford to take on another person.

Lou screamed out in pain, the creature in his dream eating him alive. "Help! Someone help me!" he begged, trying to kick the beast away in his dream.

Marlick started to climb back up the fire escape.

"Don't leave me!" Lou's eyes opened for a second, seeing a figure walking away. "I have to get get back... My daughter needs me! I have to get back.. My girl.." he passed out again, reaching for the figure.

Marlick trudged up to the roof, safe in the knowledge that he'd be paid well for looking after the mutant girl.

Lou's eyes opened once more and he moaned in pain. Crawling over to a small overhanging ledge to get out of the rain. "Shh... Don't cry, Daddy's here.." he cradled his jacket, delusional and in horrible pain.

Marlick went inside, squeezing down the narrow corridor and poking his head around her door.

Lou rocked the jacket, singing a soft lullaby to it, his hand swollen and bright red.

She was sprawled on the floor, her blankets twisted about her legs.
Marlick half-smiled.

Lou kept singingto the jacket, his eyes glazed and unfocused.

Marlick rolled his huge shoulders and went back to the roof, realising he was hungry.

"Hush little baby, don't say a word. Daddy's gonna buy you a mockingbird.."

Marlick lumbered over to a drying rack set up in one corner. He pulled a small leg down and started to eat.

Lou began hysterically screaming, the jacket baby forgotten.

Marlick winced but kept chewing.

Lou kept screaming, remembering finding his daughter dead, the camp looted and her little body bruised and covered in blood, her mother's brains splattered against the walls. "Nooo! Hannah! Oh god no! Baby wake up! Please! Open your eyes! Look at daddy! Baby please!" He screamed, sobbing and clawing at his face.

Marlick sucked the bone clean and tossed it off the roof, leaving it for scavengers.

Lou shuddered, still screaming his daughter's name, "Hannah! Baby no! Clare damn it! Why didn't you just come with me?" He wailed.

Marlick regretted selling the heavy-duty ear protectors and hoped the crazy guy would stop yelling soon.

Lou kept yelling and screaming, mourning his family all over again.

Marlick sighed and went inside again, trying to be quiet so he wouldn't wake her.
